Quail Country Plantation

Quail Country Plantation captures the essence of southern charm. It is lovingly owned and managed by people with a great appreciation for the rich history and long hunting tradition of this land.

Quail Country Plantation is one of Georgia’s oldest hunting preserves. In 1960, it received the third hunting preserve license ever issued by the state. Since then its 3,500 acres have been continuously managed for optimum quail habitat. The longleaf pine-wiregrass ecosystem remains intact, making these gently rolling hills home not only to quail coveys but also gopher tortoises and wildflowers.

No other quail hunting plantation takes greater pride or better care of its dogs than Quail Country. The hunting dogs are the heart and soul of this place. Quail Country’s state-of-the-art kennel facility boasts close to 100 adult dogs who are treated as part of the plantation family and raised and trained to enjoy hunting as much as Quail Country’s guests.

Lee Dane and her husband, Roger from Ridge Spring, SC, hunt at Quail Country five times each year. They started hunting there because of their great respect for manager Bill Bowles. Today there are many things they love about Quail Country: “You can tell that the people who have managed Quail Country have loved it. The lodge is charming—just the right size and filled with mementos and photos of people who have hunted there. All of the guides are excellent, the dogs are well-trained and happy, the jeeps are comfortable and the food is quite simply fabulous!”
