Rio Piedra Plantation

Rio Piedra Plantation sits at the heart of south Georgia’s classic plantation belt—more than 100 miles of the best quail habitat on earth. This area is known for its large wild quail populations and miles of contiguous private hunting lands. But Rio Piedra, located in the center of it all, is open to the public. It offers hunters the chance to experience traditional, natural quail hunting the way it’s been done for more than 100 years.

No other publicly accessible hunting plantation offers the steady stream of indigenous birds that Rio Piedra does. These wild birds must be hunted, not merely shot. So while the hunting can be challenging, the experience is authentic and the rewards are great.

Accommodations

In addition to fine quail hunting, at Rio Piedra guests enjoy first-rate dining and accommodations. Rio Piedra is the only two-time winner of the coveted “Orvis Wingshooting Lodge of the Year” award. Its two-story lodge features a host of amenities, and there are well-appointed guest lodges that accommodate small groups as well. The dining at Rio Piedra has been described as “relaxed 5-Star” and truly sets it apart from other Georgia wingshooting lodges.

Activities

After traveling to Rio Piedra for a hunt, Chip Bloomberg from Cincinnati, Ohio said, "South Georgia is the quail capital of the world. Rio Piedra is the epicenter. It is the best birds, best dogs, best food we have come by yet!"

Rio Piedra Plantation is located along the Flint River in Camilla. For more information or to book a hunt, visit www.riopiedraplantation.com or call (229) 336-1677.
